The "BIG" wall

Take a look at the big archer wall. The forms finally came off the wall today. I call this the "millenium falcon" wall since it took so much effort to build, wire, plum and pour this beast.

The huge archer wall got poured today. Also this is the first time I was able to climb up and see a bit of the ocean view we will have from our living room. Not to mention the amazing view we will have once we get up on the roof deck. So we're pretty hyped overall! check out the craftsmanship that went into that wall!

This is pretty much how I want my kitchen area to look like. Lighter color wood floors accented by dark wood cabinets and then topped off with white counter tops. I also like the chairs in this photo a lot. Just the overall feeling of this area feels right in this picture.

Today marks the first real day of work on our new house. The lot was cleared (grubbed) which is really cool to see and makes me feel good the process of building has finally begun.

Here is the lot we bought in Del Mar. The clearing of the land will be delayed till this Saturday. But here it is.... void of any construction.

We bought the lot from a man that has held on to it since he purchased it in 1973 for 13k. The area used to be for the professors of SDSU. Now it's called Del Mar terraces.

Here are some old floor plans and studies. Although this house is much smaller than our last house, I think it has a better use of space and a more interesting use of that space. All in all it's going to be a 2600 sqf home which is fine for us.

Ok. So we about to start construction of our new home and we're all excited. I'm going to try to document the construction of the home and post other little tid bits of info here. Public of San Diego designed the house and in their words....

"The Project is about erosion; of sand and rock, and time. It is about the uncovering of an artifact and the scarring that etches even the strongest material. The project will map these discoveries.

The project is constructed upon a series of sluice gates, or battlements. These heavy "of the earth" fragments are our basis of current knowledge, the foundation of our present and future.

The construction that takes place upon and around this history can not stand alone. It must reach down into the past, and either embrace, reject, or negotiate with it" Well said.
